FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT PATH

1. What does PATH stand for?

PATH stands for Personal Action Towards Health

2.  Why should I go to a PATH class?

If you live with a chronic condition, or care for someone who does, PATH classes can provide you with useful information and tools to take more control in your life. The class can help you better manage the difficulties caused by chronic disease.

3.  Do I have to go to all six classes for two and a half hours?

It is recommended to participate in all classes so that you are able to utilize all the information presented in the class. The more you are at the class, the more tools and knowledge you will have to use.  However, if you are unable to make it to a class or need to leave early for some reason, you will still benefit.  These classes are interactive, informal and have breaks built into them, so participants can feel free to excuse themselves from the class when they need to.

4. What do we do when the six weeks is over?

You are welcome to purchase the book used during the session to keep as a reference.  Some participants have taken the class a second time as a “refresher”. The class is designed so that once it is over, you have the tools you need to continue to manage your disease more independently.  Many participants develop wonderful friendships with other participants and continue these after the class.

5.  Can I bring a friend?

Absolutely!  The class is open to anyone with a chronic condition, or someone who cares for others with chronic conditions.

6.  Do you talk about specific diseases?

No, the class is not specific to any disease but covers concerns that people with several different health conditions have in common.

  • Is it an exercise class?

No. PATH classes do not require that you do any type of exercises.

  • How much does it cost?

Cost depends on which organization you are taking the class through.
